Customer Review: great camera, but……..
great camera. The one thing I wasn’t expecting was that it takes so great pictures that it will make an inexpensive lens look cheap. These Kit lenses were fine for my smaller processor cameras and gave some very good pictures but this one simply shows any and all imperfections in my older, inexpensive lenses……..tried one of the newer, more expensive lens, made for this model, and took great pictures…. guess I learned my lesson that if I’m going to use a great camera, don’t try to shoot cheap… the pictures will tell the story… new lenses coming to my collection, soon.
Customer Review: Great Camera
I used 35 mm years ago and then stopped taking pics. Started up because of some of the digital point and shoot cameras. When I decided to get back into SLRs, I did a lot of research. I have never been into snob appeal so I looked into features, picture quality and value as significant factors. Sony, who took over the older Minolta line, certainly had the right idea when they put together the 350. It is pretty easy to use right out of the box. I would consider a field guide if you are not camera savy, so you know how to get the most out of it. I recently used it on a trip to England and took about 800 pictures in 10 days. It worked great. I do not use the kit lens, but found some others that make this camera pretty flexible (but that’s another review.) So far, there is nothing that I have wanted to do that this camera can’t. The majority of great pictures come from the photographer’s eye, scene and light. IMHO, this camera will not hold you back if you have those.

Equipped with optical SteadyShot image stabilization, the T77 automatically compensates for camera shake without sacrificing image quality. You’ll also enjoy other photo-enhancing features such as Face Detection and Smile Shutter technologies and the anti-blink function.
Customer Review: Great slim take-anywhere point and shoot!
Got my Sony DSC-T77 here in asia where it’s been out for a couple of weeks and would just like to give this little slim point and shoot a thumbs up! I used to own the Sony DSC-T70 which was an OK camera in my opinion. As an upgrade, the T77 is really a much better camera. Pros: -Great image quality in good light. Compared to the T70, the T77 is produces better images in good light. The photos are pin sharp and more noticeable are fine details. When I take portraits with the T77, I now see pores and individual eyelashes! -Slimmer and lighter than the T70, the T77 really is a pocketable camera that you’d want to take with you all the time. It’s so unobtrusive I sometimes forget I have it with me! -Dynamic Range Optimizer helps recover shadow details without losing highlights. -A barrage of other features like smile shutter, face detection, anti-blink function, and image stabilization helps make taking pictures more fun. Cons: -I wished Sony had separate controls for saturation, sharpness, and contrast like all the Canons have. There are times I want to get more saturated colors. While it does have a vivid setting which boosts up the saturation, it also boosts up the contrast which results in harsh-looking photos (most of the time anyway). -I think it’s safe to say that this camera takes better picture in good light. The quality definitely goes down as the light levels go down. I think the problem with such a small sensor and lens is that in lower light levels, the camera compensates by choosing higher ISOs which results in more noise and more noise reduction which produces photos that are less sharp and less detailed. All in all, I really like this camera, and at this small/slim size, I think this is as good as it gets. If you’re looking for the smallest and slimmest camera that takes quality photos, then give the Sony DSC-T77 a try.

The Sony KDL-37XBR6 37″ BRAVIA XBR(R) LCD HDTV features Full HD 1080p, BRAVIA Engine 2 digital video processing, Advanced Contrast Enhancer circuit (ACE), 24p True Cinema capable, enhanced XMB user interface, and BRAVIA Sync with a piano black gloss black finish. Unlike lower resolution products that need to down convert high definition content to a lower level to display properly, the KDL-37XBR6 with its native 1920×1080 display, has the flexibility to display the highest definition content at the highest 1080p HDTV resolution. Dynamic Noise Reduction intelligently identifies and dramatically reduces noise in the signal according to the motion and brightness of each scene for clearer, crisper images. Sony’s Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) uses real-time image processing to dynamically adjust backlight levels for improved contrast without masking details the filmmaker intended you to see. ACE delivers deep blacks in darker scenes, as well as fine details in shadows and other dark areas of the picture for a difference you can truly see. Customer Review: A Happy Customer
As I write this it is two months since I purchased the Sony TV. I was happy the day it arrived, and am still happy. First off, it arrived days ahead of schedule. Secondly, it was brought right to my apartment and set up exactly where I wanted it. Thirdly — and most important — it worked just fine, right out of the box. It takes a bit of study to master all the various adjustments, but the reward for this is a really good TV experience.
Customer Review: Excellent Sony Product
The right price the right product to have in your home. Picture and sound perfect. This product for delivery is not available with UPS because of weight. You won’t see this information until the end. The delivery was done carefully and with a home phone call.

Sony’s BRAVIA W series Full HD 1080p televisions take performance to the next level with advanced HDMI v1.3 features such as x.v.Color which greatly broadens the color space input capabilities to include 1.8 times as many natural colors as existing HDTV signals. In addition, Deep Color input capability works with the 10-bit processor and panel to deliver 64 times the level of color expression versus current 8-bit systems. Wrap all of this up with an elegant a new brushed metal picture frame design and there’s nothing like W-Series HDTV’s.

Full HD 1080
There are a lot of ways to define high-definition but BRAVIA Full HD means you?re getting the best resolution that high-definition has to offer consumers. With Sony BRAVIA W Series HDTVs, Full HD 1080 means 1920 x 1080 pixels5 and 1080p video inputs. Your lifestyle demands the best in high-definition and with BRAVIA Full HD 1080 products you get it.

1920 x 1080 Panel Resolution
1920 x 1080 Panel Resolution — When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA W Series televisions have them. Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel resolution with over 2 million pixels 5(more than twice that of 720p HDTV) is exactly what you need to reproduce the 1080p content that can be delivered by our cutting edge 1080p Blu-ray disc player.

10-bit Processing and 10-bit Display
While it’s great to state that a TV is capable of creating billions of colors it’s a whole lot better when you have a display that can actually display them. That’s the logic behind Sony’s 10-bit processor and 10-bit display. Sony follows 10-bit processing with a 10-bit panel, allowing 64 times the levels of color expression than an 8-bit panel. What that translates to is smoother transitions from color to color and subtle color changes faithfully reproduced.

BRAVIA Engine EX Full Digital Video Processor
The BRAVIA Engine EX full digital video processing system is based on Sony’s famous BRAVIA Engine video processing system.

Live Color Creation System featuring WCG-CCFL
Decades of television know how allow us to realize that an LCD TV is more than just the panel; it?s actually a system. Uncompromised picture quality starts with combining carefully chosen components and circuits to optimize system quality, among these are the color creation and processing functions. That?s what Live Color Creation is all about. It starts with the BRAVIA Engine EX video processing system, which enhances primary colors and corrects half-tone colors for natural overall color. Next, a WCG-CCFL backlight using Sony?s phosphor formula delivers a specific spectrum of light designed to work with our specially formulated color filters. The combination of these three components creates deep, deep blues and natural greens for overall colors that draw you right into the picture.

Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) Function
Sony?s Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) builds on our excellent on-contrast ratio performance of 1,800:11. A Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 16,000:12 is achieved by using real-time image processing to adjust the contrast along with optimizing backlight levels. But rather than focus on the “numbers”, Sony focuses on actual picture performance avoiding exaggerated blacks where detail can be lost. ACE translates to blacker blacks in darker scenes, as well as better shadow detail in other scenes for a difference that you can see.

x.v.Color technology
BRAVIA HDTV’s performance has now advanced to the point that the color range can be defined by limitations in the original video source, rather than the TV. Thanks to the adoption of a newly approved international color standard called xvYCC (an option in the HDMI v1.3 spec and which Sony participated in creating), the color space has been greatly expanded. 1.8 times as many natural colors as existing HDTV signals will now be faithfully reproduced. x.v.Color is the name Sony has chosen to promote video products that include xvYCC capability. x.v.Color enabled products can now offer more accurate color reproduction and natural colors.

24p True Cinema (24p Input Capability)
Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sony wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p output capability on their BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc player. It makes sense that select 2007 BRAVIA TVs will include 24p input capability. The benefit? Images are smooth and natural looking. Once you experience 24p video it will be hard to view video without it.

DMex - Ready (Digital Module Extender)
Sony’s Digital Media Extender (DMex) ready televisions offer a digital connection path for the addition of the optional modules like the new BRAVIA Internet Video Link. 6 With innovative DMex expansion capabilities featuring the Emmy award winning XMB user interface, select 2007 models are not merely TVs, but powerful entertainment platforms that not only meet your needs today, but expand easily to meet tomorrow’s needs as well.

Xross Media Bar (XMB) interface
When was the last time you saw an on-screen display that was fast, fun and easy to use? Sony’s award-winning Xross Media Bar (pronounced Cross) provides a logical and fast way to access set up menus, user controls, and more. The on-screen display comes to life by pushing the XMB menu button on the remote. Navigation through the menus is smooth and fast.

BRAVIA Theatre Sync technology
Sony created BRAVIA Theatre Sync to go beyond basic digital audio and video transmission. Based on the HDMI-CEC function. BRAVIA Theatre Sync will be included on select BRAVIA Theatre home A/V systems and components. This useful function reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, routing signals, etc. to the simple push of one button.8 Sony calls this nifty feature BRAVIA Theatre Sync. Here’s how it works. Want to play a DVD on your Sony A/V system? Easy, just push PLAY on the BRAVIA HDTV remote and everything is taken care of for you. Even when the system is off! Want to change from TV sound to digital surround sound through your Sony BRAVIA Theatre A/V system? Just one push of the Theater Sound button on the remote and voila, surround sound through your system. Want to power down everything once you’ve finished enjoying it? Push one button and the TV and A/V system powers down. BRAVIA Theatre Sync helps make things a whole lot easier to operate.

S-Force Front Surround
Built around a sophisticated set of Sony algorithms, the S-Force Front Surround enhancement function generates realistic surround sound from the two speakers in the TV. Unlike some other “virtual surround” technologies, sound does not need to be bounced off of side walls or other surfaces to hear three-dimensional sound. No matter what the size or shape of the room it’s possible to hear sounds from behind you.
Customer Review: Worst TV Set I’ve Ever Owned!
Without a doubt, this Sony KDL46W3000 is the worst TV set I have ever owned. The picture, which I saw demonstrated in several stores on a HD link, is abysmal using any other input but HD. Surely Sony should have realized that only some broadcasts are in HD and most other sources of input are not. They could have compensated for those circumstances instead of letting the buyer suffer from a low quality picture. The sound is no better. It is muffled and unintelligible in many broadcasts, and the Sound Leveler circuit does not appear to make any difference. I thought I was finally done adjusting the sound level from loud commercials to soft movie scenes, and I expected the TV set to strike some kind of balance. It doesn’t. Conclusion: Don’t buy this TV set at any price. I paid $1847 and wish I had my money back. Based on reviews I have read of other Sony products (after I bought the TV), they no longer manufacture quality electronics. That’s too bad. I’ve had nothing but good luck with this brand until now.
Customer Review: The First TV that I bought
This is the Fist TV i actually had to buy. My roomate before had his own rear projection TV and placed in the living room. So when he had to move out, i had to buy a my own TV and this cought my eye being an HD and LCD. For $1800 it wasnt bad, works perfectly out of the box and been working good for 4 months already. I have Monster everything so i really have nothing bad to say on the picture quality and sound because i buy the best there is. There is nothing for me to compare too just an old fuzzy TV. I will go bigger eventually due to my living room being big.

Customer Review: Sony Baloney
I had this camera for only 4 months when the screen locked up and wouldn’t function. I spent 8 bucks to send it to the Sony repair center where they said that the malfunction was my fault and that the repair would cost me $90 bucks. So the manufacturer’s warranty is baloney, or Sony Baloney. Effectively, there is NO manufacturer’s warranty, just in case you want to buy this camera. Whatever goes wrong with your Sony camera is your fault, and they will NOT cover it. Needless to say, I will never buy another Sony camera. BUYER BEWARE!!!! Any camera malfunction is your fault and will not be covered by the so-called manufacturer’s warranty. The manufacturer’s warranty is strictly HYPE.
Customer Review: low price. valuable
it is replaced Sony W80. Image quality is better than W80. In Particular supersensitive picture(i.e. ISO800) is better than W80. And low price is good.

Customer Review: I love this camcorder
Well, i am an amateur when it comes to camcorders, so my review may NOT be very technical. I love this camcorder, this is my first HD camcorder and the picture quality is real amazing. I use this camcorder mostly to take home videos and for our trips. The camcorder is real sleek and fits nicely in your hand. I dropped SR12/SR11 just because of their weight and their bulky harddisk. One down side is that this camcorder uses just a memory stick, they are expensive, but they are reliable. i have been using memory sticks with my Sony digital camera as well and no issues until now. If they could provide one more slot for relatively inexpensive SD/SDHC cards it will be a killer camcorder. A nice feature is the smile shutter and it takes stills of your subject without you being aware. It is a nice feature and will bring smile to your face. The PMB software that comes along with the camcorder is good enough to transfer and view the HD videos in your laptop. However, for advanced editing, you should probably order a video editing software like Sony Vegas movie studio or vegas Pro as your budget and needs are. I have just ordered the Sony vegas movie studio platinum pro 9 and hoping it will be fun to edit the videos. The still picture quality is very good. I tried the night mode in dark, it works, but subjects will look like ghosts, so not using that one a lot. a good buy, will recommend it. Amazon ships it fast too.
Customer Review: Addictive but be aware of the work you will create using the clips!
This isn’t a review of the features and performance of the camera. I am not an expert at comparing it to others. This is a review of what you can do with the files that you create. I got this camera and the 16gb memory duo card. So far so good. It stores between 2 and 5 times the life of a single battery in video.. hours and hours unless you pick the highest bit rate. The challenges come after you get your files home. 1. Sony Vegas Probably this is the best solution for workflow from this camera, but it is windows only. Moving right along .. 2. PS3 Happily you can either insert the card into your PS3 (or into a multi-card reader via USB - a recent one, not an old one, as high capacity memory sticks can’t be read by older multi-card readers). The PS3 sees the clips, shows moving previews, and they look fantastic. You can also put them on a media server (such as MediaTomb mac/linux) and connect to it from the PS3. Not quite as nice, as the thumbnails lack preview, but workable. 3. Connecting the camera to your Mac via the included dock This works fine and I’ll sub-divide what you can do at this point: 3a. Using Final Cut Express (or Final Cut Pro). Neither of these programs will deal directly with the MTS files (which are AVCHD and 5.1 ac3) without the full directory structure of the card present! so don’t copy the MTS files off, and delete them if you want to use FCE! At any rate, use FCE to import the clips, they are decompressed and blown up to an apple format that uses heaps more space! you can’t edit natively in AVCHD using FCE. It isn’t clear to me that you can even edit natively in FC Pro. Note, FCE down-mixes to 2 channel stereo during import! 3b. Not using Final Cut Express - using other tools (linux users read this too) You can’t play these MTS files reliably using Quicktime or Quicktime Pro despite the claim that quicktime pro can play h264 video. You can’t even use the Perian codecs (which are available free and based on the open source libraries used by ffmpeg). They claim h264 compatibility but unfortunately they do not read the sony h264 stream properly. You may see various problems: missed frames, half speed, crashing or lots of errors. It may be that a SD camera setting on this camera is more reliably usable, I got bored trying so many different things. This also means you can’t use ffmpeg or mencoder under linux, despite their flexibility. The latest version as of time of this review just does not deal with all your clips. It might deal with some, reading and re-encoding if necessary to mpeg4 or whatever, but you WILL get frustrated. The same problems apply to mplayer, vlc, MPEG Streamclip, and so on, as they also depend on the same libraries. Note: xportdev will demux MTS files and TMPGenc will decode the video correctly, you CAN use these two tools to create mpeg4 or whatever. see http://www.sonyhdvinfo.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40 this forum for more info. 3c. Not using Final Cut Express - using VoltaicHD VoltaicHD will convert the clips properly but there are no options to speak of. It creates much larger mov files that can be used in typical mac utilities, quicktime, etc. 3d. Using Toast Titanium I believe this produce accepts AVCHD files. I haven’t tested it, obviously you have to buy the product. It appears to be capable of writing DVDs or even bluray discs after the edit is done. 4. Uploading to vimeo (the HD version of youtube) Vimeo does not accept MTS files, it tries to accept h264 video if packaged in an avi or whatever, but will not process them correctly. It accepts mpeg4, or re-encoded h264 as output by mencoder. It probably also accepts mov files from VoltaicHD and obviously you can get FCE to output a file that vimeo will take. The problem I have with this is the chain of encoding and decoding: image –> camera –> encoded to avchd –> decoded in voltaicHD or FCE –> re-encoded to mpeg4 or whatever –> uploaded to vimeo –> decoded –> re-encoded to their On2 codec –> played by flash. As you can see this chain is ridiculous and the result will not look as good as the ideal, which is: image –> camera –> encoded to avchd –> played My conclusion is that your frustration level will vary according to what you want out of your clips. The camera offers very limited editing: you can chop a clip into two and delete any clip, so you can basically throw away bits you won’t want to waste time on. If you want to show them off on your HDTV via the PS3, without mixing them into a “movie” then everything is great. They look really good.. the interlacing is really not visible when the PS3 plays them, resolution is outstanding at least depending on how high a bit rate you pick. If you want to burn DVDs then I expect Toast Titanium or FCE will be reasonable but there is some quality loss from the inevitable decode - reencode cycle. If you want them on the web at vimeo, although the result is heaps better than youtube, it certainly isn’t high definition. I believe the vimeo bit rate is limited to 2000 kbit, for example.

Customer Review: Sony Cybershot DSCW170/R 10 with 5X Optical Zoom
I researched and compared cameras for a couple of months before deciding on this one. I also have a Sony Cypershot 15Xzoom DSC-H7. We bought a Nikon Coolpix L18 for our son, which I would NOT recommend. To me Sony’s are the best! My little red Cypershot is GREAT! To this day, I still haven’t sat down and looked at the manuel, but it’s so easy to use, takes great pictures and it fits in my pocket or purse. I’m sure once I really check out what all the features of this camera, I’ll find it even better! Thanks!
Customer Review: Excellent point and shoot
I had the 7.2 MP cybershot and this is an excellent upgrade. I am still able to use my base memory sticks and the quality of images have been great.

Simple digital video and still image recording is here with the DCR-DVD105 DVD Handycam camcorder. It’s simple because Sony has created a camcorder with easy-to-use features, and you can record directly onto DVD. Features such as Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization compensates for camera “shake” and makes it easy to record smoother video. It’s also easy to capture distant objects with 20X optical zoom and 800X digital zoom.Though easy-to-use, the DCR-DVD105 is fully capable of capturing difficult shots. With Super NightShot Plus infrared system, you can record even in low light situations. The 2.5″ LCD screen provides image clarity and easily rotates to give you the best possible viewing angle. The DCR-DVD105 also comes with additional LCD touch screen controls for extra convenience. Could digital video and digital still image recording be any easier?
Customer Review: Drive error message
After 1 year this product has several problem. I think that the mechanical design is not OK. The disk cover is wear out. Drive error message came up then all recorded data will be lost forever. The cost for repair is high enough to buy a new one. Not recommend to buy this product
Customer Review: Broke down after 18 months
I bought this camera after reading recommendations on Consumer Reports website. It’s a pretty good camera, but perhaps I should have bought something else. Here are the reasons for that: 1) the editing is not easy; 2) colors seem to be washed out, along with the focus; 3) camera broke down after 18 months of use. For the last bullet, it appeared to be some kind of internal electronic malfunction, resulting in complete failure when using camera in moderate sunlight situations (the screen goes white): only when the amount of sun/light is fairly low, will it function. Sony can fix it, but it will cost abuot $250 (I paid $400 for the camera). The other reviews describe problems with this camera in more detail; I just wanted to highlight reliability of the camera.

Customer Review: Excellent, simple to set up tv
This tv is beautiful and easy to set up.The worst of it is that it’s best viewed when fully vertical, and the prop in the back isn’t long enough for that, so I needed a piece of wood under it to raise it. It doesn’t have its verticality worked out - unless you mount it on a wall. It has outlets and inlets for seemingly any device, and suggests hookups. It’s been a daily part of my life for a month, and it’s beautiful, and easy to control and hook up. I would highly recommend it.
